BS/MS Chemical Engineering/Materials Science and Engineering ’20, Honors

Drexel Faculty Mentor: Dr. Jason B. Baxter, PhD; Yury Gogotsi, PhD

Kristine Loh (she/her) graduated from Drexel University in 2020 with a BS in chemical engineering, an MS in materials science and engineering, and a certificate in Writing and Publishing as a member of the Pennoni Honors College. Her first research experience as a STAR Scholar and Velay Fellow was with Dr. Jason B. Baxter studying antimony sulfoiodide (SbSI) microrods as a solar cell absorber material. She continued working in Dr. Baxter's Lab throughout her five years at Drexel and finished her undergraduate research experiences in a joint project with Dr. Yury Gogotsi of the Drexel Nanomaterials Institute where she studied optoelectronic properties of MXenes. Alongside her undergraduate research, Kristine was heavily involved in the Society of Women Engineers and held multiple leadership positions. Kristine is currently a PhD student at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities co-advised by Professors Vivian Ferry and Uwe Kortshagen. Her project focuses on luminescent solar concentrators for solar windows on greenhouses. In her free time, she enjoys experimenting with her air fryer, trying new restaurants, and volunteering at K-12 STEM outreach events.
